Smogcon: Bringing the American game convention to London

Hi guys!

Me along with my two buddies Jon Webb and Tom Hutchings here in London are putting on Smogcon next February. Here in Europe, the 3-day American style of convention is very rare. Our vision is to bring that kind of gaming experience to our community here. We have already put on Smogcon twice before and in this, our third year, we took the big step of hiring out an entire hotel to host the event and fully realise our vision. It is located just west of London and we already have 150 ticket holders from around the UK and various countries in Europe, so we are off to a cracking start! Full details can be found in our online brochure and new website Smogcon. Dates are February 21-23, 2014.

Smogcon is a unique gaming event held in the UK and modelled after fabled American gaming conventions like Templecon, Warmachine Weekend, and Lock N Load. This will be the 3rd year of the event and it has practically exploded with activities compared to the first two years. In addition to Warmachine/Hordes tournaments and casual play, we have Malifaux, Dropzone Commander, Bushido, High Command, IK RPG and loads of other activities to look forward to. Painters will have lots to do there with a full suite of seminars/lessons and a full on painting competition called the Golden Thrall.

Early bird tickets are on sale now and are lower than the normal ticket price for a limited time (until early November). The event’s hotel is fully booked at the moment, but there are plenty of other hotels in walking distance around it. Why not consider coming down and joining the fun?

Norbert's been gaming for about 35 years. His foray into miniature wargaming started off in Historicals until he came across Warmachine and Hordes in 2007 and never looked back. A couple of years later he became a Pressganger, running many events at the local, regional, and national level. In 2012, he moved to London and began to experience the European wargaming scene as a player and organizer.
