So glad the podcast is back.

As a bonus I found out Adam moved to my neck of the woods!  Welcome to Smallbany!

Picking up the rules shortly.  I parted with most of my GW minis a long time ago, but I'm pretty hyped about this.

I know I was psyched for these two.

Faeria - card game/board game feel.  I've enjoyed this one quite a bit on PC.

Elder Scrolls Legends - Only played a little bit, but it was intriguing.  Being on the tablet means I can play more often as I am on the go quite a bit.

Plus if interested, I know Eternal ccg had a way to beta test on tablet.  Is more of a MtG/Hearthstone hybrid and enjoyable.

Now if only Gwent makes the move...

Warmachine and Hordes General / Command Books and Theme Books
« on: August 10, 2016, 02:44:56 PM »
Some info was shared at GenCon during a design panel.  ChainAttackJay tweeted some of the information.  PPS_Will has shared additional info on the main boards:

Command Books will be coming out starting December (for Prime and Primal factions, so none for Convergence, Mercenaries, or Minions).  These will be similar to the original “Forces of” books, listing all warlocks/warcasters, warjacks/warbeasts, as well as several support and core units and solos.  New stuff will also appear in these books (like the epic versions of the juniors and lesser).  These books will also have the first Theme forces.  Trollbloods is on deck first, followed by Protectorate.  These will all be released by next Lock N Load, when the new Hordes Faction appears.

From there the Theme force books come out.  These will also include Mercs, Minions, and Convergence.  These seem to be smaller books, since they only cover that theme, such as Gravediggers (Trencher force), Llaelese Resistance, Blindwater Congregation, etc.  Each book could include new models in varying numbers that help flesh out the theme forces.  Currently there are no planned Theme Force releases that are Theme force only, though you may see more stuff like the Commodore Cannon (limited to a selection of warcasters).

Overall, seems to be about 2 books a month.

Anthology books are not the plan right now for releases.  Seems the Command books and Theme Force books will be the method to display new/future releases.  Doesn’t mean they won’t do an anthology book again, but this is their current plan.

Faster release schedule is nice, though the volume of releases seems daunting.  No mention of retail price.

Just caught up on the other thread and saw that.  Looking forward to your research notes!

Love the thread.

I haven't seen the Taskmasters MK III yet.  Are they still viable with minions, or was the nerf to Gatorman Posse and Croakland Raiders too much to make Taskmaster worth it?

Farrow Brigands w/ UA having Prey and Tough seem better, but just not sure if the minion heavy Skorne lists are worthwhile...

I am enjoying reading your journey through Skorne mk III.

Looking forward to your matches vs. the Pre-meta top tier faction salty hypothesis armies.

For those interested, the 3++ website has a running list of spoilers by faction:

I will try it out when it releases on mobile platforms. I am intrigued by it.

We should start a thread where everyone tells Nathan some pretty little should end well..

What are the thoughts on the theme force?  Madrak1 normally beast bricks, correct?  Those requirements do not seem that steep.  Does Beacon tip the Skinner to useable?  Free Impaler you were probably going to include anyway?

I enjoy Beyond Earth with Rising Tide expansion more than I do Civilization 5 with the 2 expansions, though that is enjoyable too.

I also recommend Endless Legend for an enjoyable alternative.  It plays a little slower than Civ, but battle sequences are more involved and enjoyable.  Plus, all factions have unique flavor and playstyle.

Nigel, I don't normally play Kraye without 2 Minutemen.  They not only autohit with flak field, but move/leap/light cav move gets them in so many places that touch the opponent in bad places.

Looking forward to you trying them with him.

Complete your daily quests to generate gold, and then get good enough at arena draft to where you average 7 wins.  Then you will be able to perpetually draft, as you get a pack and and least 150 gold at 7 wins.

I've been splitting my time between this and World of Warships...

Not enough hours in the day...

Warmachine and Hordes General / Re: Influx of New Players
« on: July 05, 2015, 08:42:22 AM »
On a lot of threads, the big defense of this new system is if someone abuses the rules, no one will play them.

Years ago, GW nixed support of Rogue Trader tournaments. This just pushes the rules to a point of there not being any true way of having a tourney without some homespun guidelines.

Kings of War will be the bigger winner here, as their rules are the most similar. Those WFB players who do not like AoS, will switch to that.

Even as a beer & pretzels game, the fact that you measure from model and not base, and in some cases HAVE to overlap bases, bugs me. If I take time to model and paint my stuff, I don't want you dinging my stuff.

Whether their rules are good or not, their models have been good. I almost bought back in to 40K when the new Ork models came out. But for better or worse I have a competitive streak, and saw that the new pretty models were not good on the table. Maybe once I have everything for my WMH factions, but I doubt that will ever happen.

Been having a blast playing with the WM/H crew!

The finale was good. I especially enjoyed how they handled Skye's dad.

Looking forward to next season.

Thread necro since I have gotten back into WoT, and even playing the mobile version Blitz. Anyone still playing? I am not part of a clan yet, and looking for other players to platoon with for missions and help improving my game play

Very conflicted about her musical talents. I watched it and my first thought was "I wonder what Nathan would think of this video?"

Agreed. One of my favorite deck builder games.

Cards & Castles seems to be an evolution of Hero Academy, where you build your resource deck instead of the fixed characters/spells/equipment in Hero Academy.

They are coming out with their first expansion this month, and even have a "Draft Format"

Warmachine and Hordes General / Re: Help me pick a faction to paint / play
« on: December 11, 2014, 03:43:37 PM »
I would suggest that whatever you pick, you try to make some underdog work and get away from the current fads. I think in today's meta, many factions are suffering from newer players being brought up on "competitive" lists and they struggle when something that is a hard matchup comes along. You are experienced enough to bring some new insight to a stagnant faction.

I voted trollbloods. I love when Chad goes out of his comfort zone of the Madraks and Grissels when dojoing. People prop up Jarl, Hunters Grim, and Calandra as viable choices, but they don't see the table. These 3 support varying builds and have some control elements. All seem minion friendly to open up options. I believe all three can handle Cryx, so you shouldn't feel behind the H8-ball.

I could also consider Cygnar base on your parameters. I have a pCaine Oceans-esque list I am looking forward to testing, and Stryker2, Stryker3, and Siege can handle the various armor skews in the meta. Beyond them, Haley2 feeds on hate and can be built various ways, whether colossal, thorn focused, or storm strider theme force.

Stationed at lake shore FD in Hamburg. Models wouldn't fit on fire truck with all the gear.

I wish I had time for a game, but we are on standby in station for the foreseeable future.

In case we are given a reprieve, where is game store located?

Being deployed to the Buffalo area with a crew from my fire station to help out. Not sure where we will be stationed yet. Hope you all are staying safe and shoveling your roofs...

I have enjoyed the series so far. Different style than Arrow, which fits the character better.  The character development has been a little hokey at times, but the teaser at the end of this week's episode sent tears of joy down my leg.
