Absylonia, Daughter of Everblight. First Impressions.

Absylonia, Daughter of Everblight.

Abby2

In preparation for an upcoming game against Mr. Gord Weppler I’m going to give a bit of a run down on my thoughts on Abby2 and what my initial thoughts are for her list.

I’ve been out of Legion for awhile, but she has me excited to get some games in with them again.

Starting with her stat line, its pretty amazing. SPD 7 is great for a warlock, lets her get to place she needs to be. MAT 7 is a middle of the road MAT, there will be times where you have to boost to make sure the hit happens(for conferred rage). Her best assets though are definitely her defense and armor, being 15/16 respectively makes her a very tanky caster, especially with access to spiny growth and tenacity. Her special rules are where we get to the real meat of her. She obviously has flight, her stinger has energy siphon, which could be very handy in some cases. CONFERRED RAGE is a pretty crazy special ability, especially in legion. If all it gave was free charges it would be a great help, but with the added benefit of being able to trigger a battle group wide +2 SPD and MAT it can amp legion beasts up a level.
On to her spell list, I think the spell list is a little lacking likely to make up for how good conferred rage is.

–    Fortify: is a good spell for the faction, extra armor is never a bad thing and the ability to situationally stop your opponent from messing with your models is always nice.
–    Psycho Surgery: This is obviously a call her to previous versions feat, its situationally good, if you have multiple beasts that have taken damage it’s good fury expenditure.
–    Return Fire: Seems more like a deterrent, like saying “don’t shoot this Ravagore”. The use of it is entirely depended on your opponent and list build
–    Teleport: What I think is her signature spell! It gives her a way to safely reach out and trigger conferred rage and teleport back, hopefully camping 2-3 fury as well. The key will be placing her somewhere safe but also somewhere able to force her beasts.

Her Feat seems very powerful, it gives you a turn of making all your beasts just all around better. +2 STR, Reach, and flight are all very powerful abilities and gives a lot of options for her battlegroup.
Now onto the list! I think conferred rage and her feat can really open her up to a number list builds, do you go gun line and use conferred rage and the feat to turn Ravagores into MAT 7, POW 18 reach heavies? Or do you go the route of perhaps extreme melee threat ranges with a seraph? I’ve chosen to go with the second one! Here is the list that I will be starting my Abby2 testing from!

I really like the threat ranges of this list, with the +2 SPD from conferred rage, slip stream and the feat the Carnivean is threatening a flying 15” threat and also gives a solid center line with ARM 22 and the ability to buff the Scytheans as well. I feel this list doesn’t focus too much on the feat thanks to the seraph for threat extension and the Scytheans for constant reach. The Seraph and Deathstalkers provide the list with some much needed infantry clearing, with the help of the Raek and Shredders I think the list shouldn’t get jammed up too bad. After a few games with this melee build I definitely want to try a list with a few Ravagores and only 1 melee heavy, though I feel a Seraph is pretty close to an auto include with her.

Gord and I will be playing a game of Bradigus vs Abby2 in the near future, he should have an article already up or up soon discussing his thoughts on Bradigus and the list he will play!
